Empowering Solar Energy Adoption in India
At P4Q Solutions, we believe in making solar energy more accessible and affordable for everyone. This page provides key insights into Government of India initiatives that support solar energy adoption across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
Key Solar-Related Government Schemes
1. PM-KUSUM Scheme
Aimed at farmers, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) promotes the installation of solar-powered pumps and decentralized solar plants:

The PM-KUSUM Scheme allows farmers to set up solar power plants ranging from 0.5 MW to 2 MW, earning ₹3.13 per unit through a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). With a land requirement of 3 to 3.5 acres per MW, the project can generate 16–19 lakh units annually. The plant should be within 5 km of a substation and operates at 11 KV, offering farmers a great opportunity to earn steady income from unused land while supporting clean energy.

-
Project Capacity = 0.5 MWp to 2 MWp
-
Tariff Per Unit = ₹3.13
-
PPA = 25 Years
-
Fixed Structure = 16 Lakh Units Per Year
-
Tracker Structure = 19 Lakh Units Per Year
-
Land Requirement = 3 Acres / Per MWp
-
Land for Trackers = 3.5 Acres / Per MWp
-
Substation Distance = ≤ 5 KM from Plant
-
Synchronization Voltage = 11 KV

2. Rooftop Solar Programme (Phase II)
Run by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE):
-
Provides up to 40% subsidy for residential rooftop solar installations
-
Aims to add 40 GW of rooftop solar capacity across India
-
Apply via DISCOM or national portals

3. Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for Institutions
Government institutions, educational campuses, and hospitals can receive incentives under MNRE for
-
Rooftop solar systems
-
Off-grid and hybrid solar installations
-
Priority for remote or under-served areas

4. Solar Park
Scheme Developed to encourage large-scale solar projects:
-
Provides infrastructure support and land
-
Ideal for developers, EPC companies, and industrial users
-
Facilitated through state governments and SECI
